In 2017, we gave an interview to US photographer and researcher Qiana Mestrich for her blog Dodge & Burn. Since then, we have collaborated with Qiana in the Mãe Preta catalogue, where she contributed with an article about black motherhood from a historical perspective, from archives to contemporary Black artists representing motherhood in their work.
This year, Qiana released a book called “Decolonization and Diversity in Contemporary Photography The Dodge & Burn Interviews” (2025), featuring the interview about Mãe Preta. We are so happy to be part of this book, in the company of outstanding photographers such as the late Nona Faustine, Marcia Michael, André França, Kim Weston, and many others.
